| Viewers around the globe know Mark Brunetz as the savvy co-star of ‘Clean House’, the #1 rated television program on the Style Network. Now in his 8th season on the show, Mark has become one the most recognizable celebrity home designers today creating accessible and well-designed rooms for the masses. At the creative helm of his LA-based design firm, Mark has collaborated with Hollywood’s A-list, launched his eponymous line of home furnishings on HSN and will release his first book Take the U Out of Clutter with Penguin Publishing in May 2010.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Mark's exposure to quality craftsmanship began at an early age walking his grandfather’s construction sites and spending weekends at flea markets with his Mom, an accomplished interior designer. These early influences marked the beginning of his life-long love of design and the decorative arts.
In 1990, Mark accepted his first job at the acclaimed Jane Fonda Workout in Beverly Hills creating two of Ms. Fonda’s most successful exercise videos. A short time later, he co-founded Fortis Films with actress Sandra Bullock developing several film and TV projects including the George Lopez Show for ABC. “Watching first-hand how visual elements translated to the screen gave me incredible insight,” explains Mark. “It’s here I discovered my desire to design for television.”
In 1999, Mark served as Creative Director for a special events company in Newport Beach designing for such clients as Nestlé, DaimlerChrylser and Bacardi USA. His innovative ideas secured the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas as a strategic partner and earned him a final nomination for Best Design at the Annual Special Events Convention.
In 2000, Mark launched Mark Brunetz Interior Design & Production and began compiling a design portfolio that honors a wide range of architecture and styles. His ideas accurately reflect the needs, desires, and aspirations of today’s homeowners by underscoring his fundamental belief that great design comes from within. “People are deeply affected by the spaces in which they live,” points out Mark. “It’s my responsibility to honor and respect that at every turn.”
In 2002, Mark segued into reality television hosting the premiere episode of Crib Crashers on MTV and has since appeared in over 250 episodes of home improvement television for nearly every major cable network. Currently, he can be seen as the co-star of the two-time, Emmy-nominated Clean House and The Messiest House in the Country, the highest rate programs on the Style Network. In 2007, Mark created the companion show Clean House Comes Clean in which he serves as consulting producer and co-host. Clean House programs can now be seen in over 20 countries worldwide.
With equal exposure in print, Mark has been featured in major newspapers throughout the U.S. including the NY Times and the Washington Post and has contributed to a variety of national and international magazines including Us Weekly, In Touch and People. He has appeared on numerous radio, internet and TV shows and has conducted a series of makeovers for sweepstakes winners in the U.S. and abroad.
Mark recently traveled to Capetown, South Africa with his charity Design Without Borders to makeover the offices of The Big Issue, a national charity that allows thousands of willing and marginalized South Africans to take responsibility for their lives through various employment and development opportunities. “I’m constantly amazed at the power of design and its ability to transform lives,” explains Mark. “It’s what recharges my batteries on a daily basis.”
Mark currently resides in Glendale, California.
